Research carried out by online business platform Square has revealed that the UK staycation boom will continue past 2022.
There has been a lot of uncertainty in the travel industry over the past few years thanks to Brexit, the weakened pound and of course the Coronavirus pandemic. Because of this, many holidaymakers have chosen to stay in the UK for their summer holidays. The report found that 45% of UK holidaymakers are planning to holiday in Britain in 2022 and 1 in 10 will continue for at least the next 3 years.
It’s no surprise that many will continue to holiday here in the UK as we have some amazing seaside towns, city breaks and beautiful countrysides to explore right on our doorstep.
The survey also unveiled the top 10 UK holiday spots:
1. Cornwall (24%)
2. Lake District (21%)
3. Scotland (16%) – with Edinburgh as the top Scotland hotspot (10%)
4. Devon (16%)
5. North Wales (14%)
6. Yorkshire (13%)
7. South Wales (11%)
8. Blackpool (10%)
9. The Cotswolds (10%)
10. Brighton (8%)
As we look ahead to the 2022 season, it’s likely these locations will see a bigger surge in bookings and there could well be a shortage in accommodation to meet the demand.
At M.A.C. Cabins we provide a range of cabins, glamping pods and shepherds huts to holiday parks and campsites which allows them to increase their occupancy. If you’re an existing holiday or campsite owner, or you own land and want to take advantage of the staycation boom, we can also help you to secure finance to fund the project, which means you can increase your occupancy or start your own holiday accommodation business in time for the 2022 summer season with a smaller investment.
